Gold case
Verge, quarter repeating movement
Sold
MOVEMENT : The gilt verge movement incorporates an hour/quarter repeating function which is activated by pushing down the stem. The repeater strikes two gongs, with one chime for the hours and both chimes for each quarter.
The watch movement is running a little fast but to within 3 minutes per hour. The repeating function is working well and the chimes are loud and clear.
DIAL : The white enamel dial is about 48 mm in diameter. It is in perfect condition except for a tiny flake at the winding hole and a small chip on the edge (hidden by the bezel) at 12 o’clock. The high dome mineral crystal is fine.
CASE : The substantial gold case is 52 mm in diameter (excluding pendant etc.) and weighs 113gms (including the movement). There is a rubbed French hallmark on the stem and the cover is marked 18K, maker NS, case no. 2234. The case does test as high carat gold. It is signed on the inner cover – Gille, a Paris, No 133.
The case is in very nice condition with just a couple of very light bruises on the back. All hinges and catches are fine and the back cover and bezel snap closed nicely. There is a little damage to the catch of the inner dust cap and this does not snap shut.
