Silver pair cases
Verge movement

Sold

This is an English silver pair cased pocket watch, with a verge escapement fusee movement, made by Louis Dunant (or Louis from Dunant) around 1745. This watch is not working and is sold for repair.

MOVEMENT : Gilded movement with engraved and pierced balance cock with red coloured endstone. Nice wide ‘D’shaped balance foot, winged balance cock and square pillars. It is signed “Louis Dunant”.
The movement is complete (including chain) except for the balance staff which is broken.

DIAL : The white enamel dial is about 34.6 mm in diameter. There are a couple of hairlines on the edge around 9 and some small chips around the edge but otherwise in very nice condition with only surface scratches and no repairs. No hands.

INNER CASE : Hallmarked for London 1745. A few bruises but quite good condition. The bull’s eye crystal is fine.

OUTER CASE : The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely. However there is damage to the back which has been repaired with solder from the inside.
