Gold repousse pair cases
Verge movement
Sold
MOVEMENT : Typical high quality early 18th century English verge movement in very fine condition. Beautifully engraved and pierced balance cock. It is signed and numbered (2218) and running well.
DIAL : The white enamel dial is about 36.25 mm in diameter. It is in exceptional condition with just a couple of tiny surface scratches but virtually mint.
NNER CASE : Hallmarks for 22 ct gold, London 1730 and also marked with the same serial number as the movement (2218). The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is also in good condition. The case is in very good condition with just some very small dents on the back. There appears to be old repairs to the bow and one sleeve of the hinge where the gold is a slightly different colour. These have been very well done.
OUTER CASE : The gold repousse pair case depicts Diana and Actaeon. Very minor wear to the high points on the back resulting in a couple of very small pinholes and there is a small hole near the neck behind the bow. These are very minor and the case is in overall very good condition. No other damage or repairs. This case is 49.75 mm in diameter.
