MOVEMENT : The gilded verge fusee movement, with a particularly finely engraved and pierced balance cock, is in fine condition and is running well. It is signed and dated (1805).
DIAL : The white enamel dial is about 45 mm in diameter. It is in very good condition with just some surface scratches but no repairs.
INNER CASE : Diameter 48 mm. Hallmarks for 18ct gold, London, 1805, maker CM. Good overall condition with no repairs, but one sleeve missing from the hinge and a little wear around the catch. Good high dome crystal with no damage. The case snaps shut nicely.
OUTER CASE : Diameter 53.5 mm. Gold hallmarks matching the inner. The hinge and catch are again fine and the case snaps shut. Excellent overall condition with no damage or wear.
This case contains an interesting watchpaper (silk not paper) from “CHIVERS, Chronometer. Watch and Clock makers of MARLBOROUGH”.
The gold case, without movement, weights 57 gms.
