MOVEMENT : Fully signed and numbered (16115). Gilded verge movement with engraved and pierced, silver plated balance cock. The balance cock has ‘lace’ edging, typical of this period. Running well.

DIAL : 36.5 mm. White enamel. Very good condition, with just a few surface scratches and tiny chips around the catch and centre apertures. There is a light hairline running from the centre towards 6. No repairs.

INNER CASE : 44 mm. Fully hallmarked for London, 1759, maker FM. Good condition though the pendant has been reattached to the case. Some scratches on the back. High dome bull’s eye crystal also in fine condition. The hinge is good and the case snaps shut nicely.

OUTER CASE : 51.5 mm. Matching hallmarks to the inner. Again in good condition though the catch button is missing. The hinge is fine and the catch snaps shut nicely.

The outer case contains 5 early watchpapers from newcastle upon Type, dated between 1823 ans 1835 T. Butt is listed in London in the mid 18th century.
