James Gordon
Perth, c1790
Silver case
Verge movement
Sold
MOVEMENT : Fully signed and numbered (1792). Gilded verge movement with beautifully engraved and pierced balance cock. In excellent, clean, original condition and running well. Complete with signed and numbered (1792) removable dust cover.
DIAL : 44 mm. White enamel. Excellent condition, with just a tiny chip on the edge at 12 (hidden by the bezel).
CASE : 44 mm. Later, silver case, fully hallmarked for Edinburgh, 1857, maker RR. Very good condition, with just a light bruise on the back. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine.. The hinges are good and the back cover springs open when depressing the crown and snaps shut nicely.
The movement is a perfect fit for the case, and it is likely that this case was made specially for this movement.
James Gordon is listed in Perth between 1771 and 1796.
