Sold
MOVEMENT : Fully signed and dated (1804). Gilded verge movement with particularly finely engraved and pierced balance cock. Excellent original condition and running, though a little fast (gaining about 2 minutes per hour).
DIAL : White enamel. Fine condition with just some light surface scratches.
INNER CASE : Chester hallmarks for 1804/4, maker HA. There are some scratches on the back over an original engraving. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is quite worn with tiny scratches but no chips or cracks. The hinge is good and the case snaps shut nicely, but the movement catch is missing (see right hand side of 4th photo).
OUTER CASE : Matching hallmarks to the inner. In excellent condition throughout. The hinge and catch are fine and the catch snaps shut nicely.
Edward Clarkson is listed in Stockport, Cheshire around 1790.
