Very fine half hunter pair cased verge, by Shropshire maker, with original maker’s watchpapers.
MOVEMENT :Signed and numbered (194). Gilded verge movement with engraved and pierced balance cock. Good condition and running well.
DIAL : 44.75 mm, white enamel. Very good condition with just one extremely light hairline running through the centre hole from 3 to 10 (inner chapter ring). Nice half hunter style hour hand with double pointer.
INNER CASE : 49.5 mm. Birmingham hallmarks for 1863 and maker’s mark RC. Also stamped with the movement serial number 194. Excellent condition throughout. The high dome crystal is perfect. The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut nicely.
OUTER CASE : 56.5 mm. Matching hallmarks to the inner. Again in very good condition with just one tiny dent on the back near the catch and a little wear to the engraved rings on the back. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely.
This outer case contains 3 watchpapers from the maker (Evans & Brown), dated 1897, 1901 and 1924, each with the owner’s name and address on the back.
