Gilt repousse pair cases
Verge movement

Sold

MOVEMENT : Signed and numbered (3936) gilt brass verge movement, with four square pillars, engraved balance cock and plate, and silver regulator disc. Milled edge to both plates. Good original complete condition and running well.

DIAL : Nice white enamel dial, with a few light surface scratches, two very light hairlines from the centre towards the edge at 6, and a repair around the catch at 6. Fine original 18th century blued steel beetle and poker hands. One of the three feet from the dial plate is missing, but the plate is attached firmly to the movement by the remaining two.

INNER CASE : Gilt brass, stamped with the movement no. (3936) and the casemaker’s mark ID. Good condition though the gilding is a little worn from the outer surfaces. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine. The hinge is also fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely. The stem and bow are later replacements.

OUTER CASE : Gilt brass repousse. Very good condition with just slight wear to high points of the repousse work, resulting in just one tiny pin hole. The hinge, catch and catch button are fine and the case snaps shut nicely. The gilding is almost perfect, with again just a very small amount of wear to the high points.
