Sold
MOVEMENT : Gilded verge movement by John Nicholson, London. Fully signed and dated (1771), with pierced and engraved balance cock. Complete, original condition and running well.
DIAL : 35 mm. White enamel, in very good condition, with just a few light surface scratches, the most visible between 6 and 7. No hairlines. Nice gold hands, though unmatched.
INNER CASE : 41 mm. Gilt/brass with some wear to the gilding but no damage or repairs. The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut. High dome bull’s eye crystal in good condition.
OUTER CASE : 49 mm. Gilt/brass with underpainted horn covering. Good original condition, with no repairs and good colour. Underpainted with gold and brown, imitating shell. The back has just 2 short cracks and only 1 pin missing. The bezel has just 2 pins missing and no cracks. The hinge and catch are fine and the case closes nicely.
The movement is marked “1771”which I believe is the date rather than a serial number.
