Silver pair cases, 50 mm.
Verge movement
Sold
MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with finely engraved and pierced balance cock and plate, and large silver regulator disk. Signed “Wills, LONDON”. All in particularly good condition. Running well.
DIAL : Silver champleve dial in good condition, with just a few light scratches. Signed “WILS, LONDON”. Nice original 18th century fancy gilt hands.
INNER CASE : Silver, maker’s mark IL, but no hallmarks. In reasonable condition, though the stem has been reattached and the silver around the stem reinforced with a D shaped plate (an old repair, nicely done). There are a few bruises to the back and the hinge has a broken sleeve, though the bezel does close. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is in very good condition.
OUTER CASE : Silver pair case. Nice condition, and again with no hallmarks. The hinge, catch button and catch are fine and the case closes correctly. There are a few light bruises on the back and one on the bezel, but overall in good condition.
Possibly a Continental watch, and nice quality, made in the middle of the 18th century. In overall good condition, with just a minor repair required to the inner case hinge.
