A fine quality London rack lever, in rose gold pair cases, in exceptional condition, by an excellent London maker.

MOVEMENT : Fine quality gilded rack ever fusee movement, with blued screws, diamond endstone and removable gilt brass dustcap. Both movement and dustcap are fully signed and numbered (6607). All in fine original condition and running well.

DIAL : White enamel. Almost perfect condition, with just a couple of tiny scratches. Gold hands with blued steel seconds hand.

INNER CASE : Hallmarks for 18ct gold, London, 1810, maker IH. Excellent condition throughout. The case snaps shut nicely and the crystal is fine. The bow shows a small amount of wear at the top.

The back of the inner case is inscribed as follows :

“In memoriam patrui mei dilectifsimi Joannis Knill Arm, qui ob. Mart. 29 A.D. 1811. At. 78.”.

This translates roughly as :

“In memory of my beloved uncle, John Knill Arm, who died 29th March, 1811, aged 78.”

OUTER CASE : Gold hallmarks matching the inner. Excellent condition throughout.

The cases, excluding crystal and movement, weigh 65 gms.

George Yonge (1776 to 1832) is listed at The Strand, London. He was Clockmaker to the Lord High Admiral in London between 1820 and 1828.
