Silver/gilt repousse pair cases, 46 mm.
Verge movement
Sold
MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, signed (J. Short, London) and numbered (642). Movement condition : The balance wheel (and staff) is missing, though the rest of the movement is complete. The movement is dirty but can be wound fully and the train runs freely.
DIAL : White signed enamel dial, in good condition. Some small flakes at the winding aperture and a little chip on the edge at 6. No hands.
INNER CASE : Silver, with no marks. In reasonable condition though the stem has been reattached and the hinge repaired. The hinge is worn and the bezel does not snap shut. The bow and stem are probably replacements. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine.
OUTER CASE : Gilded brass repousse case. The gilding and repousse work is worn on the high points but with only one tiny pin hole. The hinge, catch and catch button are fine and the case snaps shut.
The outer case is a good fit for the inner, which if original, may have been initially gilded.
