A substantial and interesting pair cased verge with the owner’s name in place of numbers on the dial, as well as engraved on the inner case.
MOVEMENT : Gilded verge fusee movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock and large silver regulator disk. Signed and numbered (206). All in good original condition, and running well.
DIAL : White enamel, in good condition with a scratch and hairline on the edge at 12, and another, again on the edge at 4. The name of the owner ‘GEORGE,ABBOTT’ is used in place of numbers on the chapter ring. Brass hands.
INNER CASE : Silver, hallmarked for London, 1814. Maker’s mark JN. Some scratches to the inside of the case and some light bruises to the back, but generally ok.. The high dome crystal is fine. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely.
The back of the case is nicely egraved with the same owner’s name, and date :
G. Abbott, 1838.
OUTER CASE : Silver, with matching hallmarks to the inner. In very good condition throughout with just a couple of very light bruises to the back. The hinge, catch button and catch are fine and the case closes correctly.
