A fine early London verge, by a good maker, with a particularly well preserved champleve dial, all in excellent condition.
MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with a large and well engraved and pierced winged balance cock with small diamond endstone. Signed ‘S de Charmes, London’. Four beautiful crested Egyptian pillars.
In good condition, with just some scratches at the pillar tops. Running well.
DIAL : A fine silver champleve dial, with signed central disk (DeCharmes, London). In excellent condition. Nice original 18th century steel hands..
INNER CASE : Silver, with makers mark PR. In good condition, though the pendant stem is slightly depressed and the winding aperture would originally have had a silver cover (now missing).
The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is also fine.
OUTER CASE : Silver, with large 5 sleeve square hinge. No marks. The hinge and catch are fine and the case closes correctly. There are a few light bruises to the back and a little wear to the catch button, but generally very good.
