MOVEMENT : Gilded verge escapement, with nicely engraved and pierced balance cock, and engraved plate. Blued steel regulator disk (transitional type) and blued screws. Four baluster pillars.

Signed and numbered (1096).

The movement is in very good condition and is running well.

DIAL : Fine white enamel dial in excellent condition.

Just a few very light surface scratches.

Excellent 18th century gold beetle and poker hands. There is an old repair to the base of the minute hand.

INNER CASE : Silver, with hallmarks for Birmingham, 1793, maker’s mark HH.

Very good condition throughout. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut, though leaves a slight gap towards the hinge.

The high dome crystal is in good condition.

OUTER CASE : Silver pair case with matching hallmarks to the inner.

In good condition, with just a couple of small bruises to the back. The hinge, catch button and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely.

John Wainwright is listed in Nottingham between 1780 and 1799.

The case maker’s mark is for Henry Harding of Wells Street, Coventry.
