A late 18th century London verge, in very good overall condition.
MOVEMENT : Gilded movement with verge escapement, the balance cock finely engraved and pierced with an unusual design of radiating spokes and a surrounding ribbon. Silver regulator disk, four round pillars.
Signed (Wm. Graham) and numbered (10002).
The movement is in very good condition and is running well.
DIAL : A fine white enamel dial.
Very good condition, with just some tiny marks.
Gilt hands.
INNER CASE : Silver, with hallmarks for London, 1796, maker’s mark SC, and movement no. 10002.
Very good condition throughout, with just a circular rub mark to the back.
The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome crystal is lightly scratched but otherwise good.
OUTER CASE : A silver pair case with silver and maker’s marks matching the inner.
Nicely engraved on the back with a monogram WM.
In excellent condition. The catch and hinge are all fine and the bezel snaps shut.
Just a slight dent to the catch button.
The outer case contains a couple of interesting watch papers, both marked for “Coachman” at Coughton Court (Warwickshire). One is from
a watchmaker in Alcester, dated January 8th, 1866.
