Sold
A late 18th century Swiss verge, with a particularly nicely painted dial.
MOVEMENT : Gilded movement with verge escapement, the balance bridge finely engraved and pierced with jewelled steel coquerette. Large silver regulator disk, four square baluster pillars.
Signed (Dupont, Ct. & Cie. A Geneve) and numbered (12159).
The movement is in good condition and is running well.
DIAL : A beautifully painted white enamel dial, showing a shepherdess in a landscape, with a sheep and lamb. The dial is nicely signed, within the hour chapter ring.
Good condition, with no repairs, and just some light hairlines around the edge, between 1 and 4. No fading to the enamel colours which are still bright.
Matching fancy gilt hands.
A little damage to the base of the minute hand, but held securely.
INNER CASE : Silver, with matching serial number to the movement and case maker SS.
Good condition, though the stem has been reattached and there is a little wear around the hinge.
The hinge itself is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome bulls’ eye crystal is good.
OUTER CASE : A silver pair case with case number 724. Plain back but engraved around the rims.
In good condition. The catch and hinge are all fine and the bezel snaps shut.
Just a slight dent to the catch button.
