Scottish gold lever pocket watch

A good early 19th century Glasgow lever pocket watch, in a fine yellow gold case.

MOVEMENT : Lever escapement, engraved balance cock with diamond end stone, blued screws. Signed (Wm. Alexander, Glasgow) and numbered (8639).

The movement is protected by a removable gilt dustcap.

All in excellent condition, and running well.

DIAL : Gold dial, with engine turned centre, and rose gold numbers. Three coloured gold outer border.

In good condition, with just some light scratches, mainly around the centre.

Matching gold coloured Breguet type hands. In good condition.

CASE : 18ct yellow gold, hallmarked for London, 1839, maker’s mark CM.
Engraved bezel, rim to the back, stem and bow. Engine turned band and back. At the centre of the back is a small cartouche engraved with initials. The bow and stem are also stamped with gold marks.

In good overall condition. Just very light wear to the engine turning on the shoulder of the back, and some very small dings to the band.. A little wear to the bow.
The case hinges are fine and both bezel and back cover snap shut correctly. The back cover springs open when the button on the stem is depressed.
The crystal has only a few very light scratches.

The gold case, excluding crystal, weighs about 30 gms.
