MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock. Four round pillars and steel balance wheel.
Signed (Mathew Prior, London) and numbered (7271).
This movement is in good condition, with just the usual scratches around the pillar tops. It is running well.
DIAL : A white enamel dial, in good condition, with just some light scratches and rubbing around the edges.
Gilt hands.
INNER CASE : Silver gilt, with London hallmarks for 1787, maker’s mark IR.
In good condition, with very little wear to the gilding, and just a couple of light bruises to the back. The hinge is good and the bezel snaps shut nicely. The stem has been reattached. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine.
OUTER CASE : A silver gilt case, with hallmarks matching the inner.
In reasonable condition although the catch button has worn down, and the bezel doesn’t snap shut.
The case maker’s mark is probably for James Richards of Bridgewater Square, London
