A verge watch, in a beautiful underpainted horn pair case in particularly fine condition

Running well, and in fine condition, though with a short soldered repair to the contrate wheel.
Signed Jas. Smith, London and numbered 7992.
DIAL : A fine white enamel dial, in perfect condition. Matching gilt Breguet style hands.
INNER CASE : Gilt brass. Stamped with marker’s mark WWCG.
In good condition though with some wear to the gilding around the band, bezel and to the bow and stem. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine.
OUTER CASE : A wonderful gilt brass pair case with underpainted horn covering. The bezel and back are both decorated with a seaweed pattern, with the back showing a hunting scene of hunter with gilt horn and two dogs chasing a hare. Beautifully painted.
The hinge and catch are complete and the case snaps shut. The catch button has some dents but is complete.
The horn is in exceptional, almost perfect condition, with fine colours, even retaining the green of the hunter’s coat and the gold of the horn and dogs’ collars.
