A substantial, late 18thc. Swiss verge in a beautiful enamel case.
MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance bridge, large silver regulator disk and four round pillars.
Signed Reimirol & Comp. and numbered 15275.
A few scratches but otherwise in very good condition and running well.
DIAL : A signed white enamel dial. No chips or repairs, but some light hairlines around the edge at 11 and between 6 and 8.
Nice early gilt hands, though mismatched.
CASE : A large gilt and enamel case, the bezel and border of the back set with clear stones. Within the border is a beautifully painted enamel plaque set within a highly decorated blue guilloche enamel background.
Gilt stem and bow. The inside of the back is stamped with the movement serial number 15275.
The bezels, band, stem and bow all show some wear to the gilding The stones (glass crystals ?) to the bezel and border are complete, though a few may be replacements.
The blue guilloche has a chip near the edge at 10. Within this, the faux pearl ring is complete though with some discolouration at 2.
The painted plaque is complete, with no restoration, but with some light scratches and some short hairlines from the edge at 9 and 10.
The high dome bull’s eye crystal is good, and the bezel snaps shut nicely.
Reimirol & Co. were in Geneva during the late18thc. A similar watch to this, by the same maker, numbered 17177 has been catalogued as Geneva, c1790.
