A fine Paris verge in a beautiful repousse gold case..
MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with well engraved and pierced balance bridge, large silvered regulator disk and four round pillars.
Signed J. B. Farine, A Paris, and numbered 524
In good condition with just a few scratches around the pillar tops. Running well.
DIAL : A white enamel dial, in very good condition with just one small chip on the edge at 12 and a little discolouration around the edge between 2 and 4.
Nice fancy gold hands.
CASE : A very fine gold case, with repousse decoration to the bezel and back. Nice clear French gold marks and maker’s mark IBP?.
The gold is in very good condition, with the repousse work still crisp. The hinges and catch are complete and the bezel snaps shut. The catch button is a little worn. The high dome crystal is good.
Jean-Baptiste Farine, clock and watch maker, worked in Paris between 1767 until 1773. He died in 1777.
