A Liverpool verge watch, in good overall condition.
MOVEMENT : Gilt fusee movement, with verge escapement, engraved and pierced balance cock, four square pillars, blued steel regulator disk and blued screws.
Signed D. Edmonds, Liverpool and numbered 620.
Running well and in good condition.
DIAL : The white enamel dial is in good condition, with just some light scratches, a very light hairline running from the centre towards 5, and a hairline across the edge at 8.
Good original 18th century steel beetle and poker hands.
INNER CASE : Silver, with hallmarks for London, 1780, maker’s mark IL.
The bow has been repaired but otherwise all in very good condition. The bezel snaps shut correctly. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine.
OUTER CASE : A silver pair case, with hallmarks and maker’s mark matching the inner.
The silver is again in very good condition. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut, but the catch button has worn down.
There is a D. Edmonds listed in Liverpool between 1775 and 1810.
