A beautiful Vienna enamel and gilt watch case on stand, with a later cylinder watch movement.

MOVEMENT : A later, fully jewelled cylinder bar movement

Unsigned.

The main plate is heavily tarnished, but in generally good condition and running well.

This movement is from the late 19thc., but the case would probably originally have held a Swiss verge movement.

DIAL : The beautifully painted enamel dial matches perfectly the enamel decoration on the case so is certainly original. There are four light hairlines running from the centre, but no chips or enamel missing.

Cathedral style blued steel hands.

CASE : The painted enamel is in good condition, with the only damage to the back of the finial on the top where there is a little enamel missing. Otherwise the main enamel case, and the enamel stand at the foot are in good condition.

The gilded metal is a bit tarnished in places, but without damage. The female gilt figure is safely attached to the enamel case and base, though is a little loose.

The crystal is fine, though the dial is a little loose on the movement, though it is pinned on to the movement plate.

The enamel decoration of the case is typical of that produced in Vienna at the end of the 18thc. and beginning of the 19th.
