A large, verge escapement watch, in silver pair cases, with regulator type dial and stop work.

MOVEMENT : The gilt fusee movement has a verge escapement, well engraved and pierced balance cock, four round pillars, and a Bosley type regulator.

The steel lever under the dial at 4, allows the movement to be stopped and restarted.

Signed Edwd. Manley, LONDON and numbered 3332.

Running well and in good condition. The stop/start mechanism is functioning correctly.

DIAL : The fine white enamel dial has time (hour) and seconds subsidiaries, with a centre minute hand.

In very good condition, though probably restored.

Gilt hour and minute hands (unmatched), with blued steel seconds.

INNER CASE : Silver, with London hallmarks for 1818 and maker’s mark IR.

In good condition. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The bull’s eye crystal is also good, and the bow and stem appear to be original. There is an old repair to the bezel at 6, with a small dent to the case just below that

OUTER CASE : A silver pair case, with marks matching the inner.

In reasonable condition. The hinge and catch are fine and the case does shut though gapes a little towards the neck. The catch spring and catch button are replacements. There is a dent to the bezel and rim at 2.
