MOVEMENT : Signed and numbered (147) gilt brass verge movement, with four square pillars, engraved balance cock and plate, and silver regulator disk. Complete and original condition, running well.
DIAL : Very nice silver champleve dial, signed in the centre. Fine 18th century blued steel beetle and poker hands. All in excellent condition.
INNER CASE : Silver, hallmarked for London, 1740, maker’s mark rubbed. Very good condition though the pendant has been reattached and the bow is probably a replacement. The hinge is fine. The high dome crystal is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely.
OUTER CASE : Silver, hallmarked for London, 1758, maker JW. The hinge, catch and catch button are fine and the case snaps shut nicely. The case has a beautifully engraved monogram on the back.
Although the outer case is slightly later than the inner, it is a perfect fit and has not been modified, so it could have been made specially for the inner.
