MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced winged balance cock and plate, silver regulator disk and four square pillars. Signed “Carre, London”. In good complete condition and running well.

DIAL : Silver champleve dial, signed in the centre “CARRE, LONDON”. All in good condition with no rubbing or wear, but a small scratch across the left hand side of the central disk.

Nice original early 18th century blued steel hands.

INNER CASE : Silver with maker’s mark BG. In reasonable condition though the stem has been reattached and strengthened on the inside of the case. A few light bruises around the band and dents to the inner rim, near the movement catch. The hinge is fine and the bezel closes well. The high dome bull’s eye crystal is fine.

OUTER CASE : Silver repousse, with no marks. With interesting and very unusual repousse decoration, showing animals and buildings, set around a central Maltese cross. There is a little wear to the high points of the repousse work, resulting in 3 pin holes. The hinge and catch are fine, though the catch button has a dent. The case snaps shut correctly.
