A good quality early London verge, in good overall condition.
MOVEMENT : A gilded movement with four wide tulip pillars, silver regulator disk, and a pierced and engraved balance cock, winged with a mask to the top of the table.
The movement is signed S. Decharmes, London.
The dial plate is engraved with a monogram (AB?) and a serial number 205.
All in good condition, and running well.
DIAL : A silver champleve dial.
Original and in very good condition. Some of the black infill to the chapter ring is missing.
Good early blued steel beetle and poker hands, again in very good condition.
INNER CASE : No hallmarks, though an indistinct maker’s mark.
All in very good condition. The high dome crystal is good. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely. The stem has been reattached and reinforced. The bow is a replacement.
OUTER CASE : No hallmarks.
All in good condition. The catch, catch button and hinge are fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely.
Loomes lists Simon De Charmes in London between 1685 and 1730. The style of this movement and pillars dates the watch to around 1700.
