A verge escapement watch, in silver pair cases, with calendar dial.
MOVEMENT : The gilt fusee movement has a verge escapement, engraved and pierced balance cock, four round pillars, and a Tompion type regulator.
Signed Jas. Curries, London and numbered 6987.
Running well and in good condition although there are some light scratches to the top plate.
The calendar mechanism is complete and working correctly.
DIAL : The white enamel dial has an inner calendar chapter ring.
In good condition, with no chips or hairlines, just some surface scratches. One of the dial feet is missing, but the dial is still held firmly by the other two.
Gilt hour/minute hands and a black steel calendar hand.
INNER CASE : Silver, with London hallmarks for 1799 and maker’s mark RN.
In quite good condition., with two light bruises on the band (at 9) and one on the back (near the winding aperture). The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. The bull’s eye crystal is also good, but the bow is a replacement and is worn and distorted.
OUTER CASE : A silver pair case, with marks matching the inner.
In good condition. The hinge and catch are good and the case snaps shut correctly. There is an old repair to the catch spring and a dent to the catch button.
