A late 17thc. London verge, in good overall condition.
MOVEMENT : The gilded movement has four fine crested tulip pillars, a silver regulator disk, and nicely engraved and pierced winged balance cock.
The movement is signed ROB HALSTED, LONDON
All in good condition, and running well.
DIAL : A signed silver champleve dial. In very good condition.
Good early blued steel beetle and poker hands, both in fine condition.
CASE : Silver case, with winding aperture shutter to the back. Maker’s mark HR (conjoined).
All in good condition, with just a few light scratches.
The bow and stem appear to be original and the high dome bull’s eye crystal is good.
The catch and hinge are fine and the bezel snaps shut, though the catch button has some dents.
Robert Halstead is listed in Fleet Street, London, from 1662. He was free of the Clockmakers’ Company in 1668.
The case maker could be Henry Rawkins or Hugh Richards, who were both working in London at the end of the 17thc.
