Stock No. M192
William Webster
London, c1730
Verge movement
Price £300
MOVEMENT : Signed WM. WEBSTER, EXCHANGE ALLEY and numbered 1718.
MOVEMENT CONDITION : The movement is dirty but is complete and in good condition, however the fusee chain has lost one hook so the watch is not running. The mainspring seems to be ok.
However the balance swings freely and the rest of the movement appears to be fine.
So it probably just needs to be stripped down, cleaned and the chain replaced or repaired.
MOVEMENT SIZE : 7.2 mm between the plates. Top plate 33.25 mm. Dial plate 34.75 mm.
William Webster (of Exchange Alley) was free of the Clockmakers’ Company in 1710 and died in 1735.
