Large 18thc. Shagreen Outer Case

Diameter 58 mm, inner bezel diameter 51 mm, inner depth to bezel 26 mm.

Gilt brass base, with black shagreen (or texture leather) covering and gilt rims and ornamental pins.

Good unrestored condition. The shagreen is almost perfect with just a little rubbing around the catch. No pins missing.

The hinge, catch button and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely. The gilding is still bright.
